Edmund J. Schmidt

Edmund J. Schmidt was appointed director of the Wyoming Department of Revenue by Governor Dave Freudenthal in February 2003 and was NABCA Chairman of the Board for 2007-2008.
He graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelor's degree and received his law degree from the University of Wyoming. Mr. Schmidt served as a lieutenant in the infantry in South Vietnam in 1969-1970.
After law school, he served as a manager of land/legal operations for several independent oil & gas operators in the Rocky Mountain region. Prior to joining the Department of Revenue, Mr. Schmidt served on the State Board of Equalization from 1998-2003. In 1999, Mr. Schmidt was elected chairman of the State Board of Equalization, a panel of administrative law judges hearing tax appeals from final decisions of the Department of Revenue and county boards of equalization.
