HARRISBURG, Pa., June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Committed to providing financial support to reduce underage and dangerous alcohol consumption, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) today announced it will award almost $2.3 million to 66 schools, community organizations, municipalities, law enforcement organizations, nonprofit organizations, and institutions of higher education through the 2017-19 Alcohol Education Grant Program.
In an effort to help prevent drunk driving and encourage patron responsibility, the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) and the Montgomery County Department of Police are launching a public awareness campaign titled, "I Take It Personally."

Distillers across Virginia are working to cut the cost customers pay for a bottle of liquor.
The Virginia Distillers Association is made up of six liquor producers. They meet with members of Congress with the goal to lower tax rates on whiskey, vodka, rum and more.
A number of new laws affecting the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control will take effect July 1. The laws were passed by this year's General Assembly and signed by Governor Terry McAuliffe.

The legislation would let restaurants and other North Carolina retailers sell alcohol as early as 10 a.m. on Sundays instead of waiting until noon.
