State Sen. Orr vows to renew push to take State of Alabama out of retail alcohol sales

One of the last remaining vestiges of America’s failed experiment with the prohibition of alcohol of the 1930s is Alabama state government’s 170 Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) stores, ALABAMA - which the state uses to compete with the private sector in the retail sale of liquor.

New Wine Council Forms In Oregon

OREGON - A new wine organization has begun in Oregon. The Oregon Wine Council has formed with a board of directors and members representing the wine industry statewide.

It’s New York’s largest remaining 'dry’ town. It may go ‘wet’ in November

ARGYLE, NY -- One of the last completely ‘dry’ towns in New York state has a chance to get wet this fall. Voters in the town of Argyle in Washington County, north of Albany, will vote Nov. 5 on whether to overturn any or all of its prohibitions against the sale of alcohol.

Gov. Northam announces new wine production facility in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) — Nelson County is getting a new place for people to enjoy an adult beverage. Governor Ralph Northam announced Monday, October 28, that Virginia Sparkling Company will invest almost $600,000 and create six new jobs to start a new sparkling wine production facility on Route 151.

Hundreds arrested during state-wide drug-alcohol-gun crackdown in Pitt, 7 other counties

GREENVILLE, Pitt County — Over the weekend, ALE special agents arrested more than 200 people for alcohol, drug and firearm charges during a state-wide crackdown.

Michigan Law Enforcement Facing the Challenges of New Legal Marijuana Laws

LANSING, Michigan -- As the state begins accepting applications for recreational marijuana business licenses Friday, local police departments already are tackling issues ranging from complaints about marijuana's pungent aroma to preparing for an expected increase in high driving.
