Call for Stricter Alcohol Policy in Slovenia

The association of chronic non-contagious diseases urged on Monday the Health Ministry, the government and National Assembly to introduce stricter measures concerning alcohol policy and to strive for a joint systemic tackling of heavy alcohol consumption in Slovenia, most notably efforts mitigating the situation among the young.

Tackling alcohol harms must be an integral part of the nation's recovery from COVID-19

As the UK and most other countries went into lockdown, the need to save lives from the coronavirus rightly took priority over longer term health issues. But experts writing in The BMJ today warn that "if we don't prepare for emerging from the pandemic, we will see the toll of increased alcohol harm for a generation."

The Northern Territory's pubs have all opened for business again.

While the rest of the country lays out a staggered and staged return to normality, the Northern Territory is getting ready to celebrate its newfound status as “the safest place in Australia”. On Friday, the territory’s premier – albeit only – newspaper The NT Times heralded the Top End’s reopening of pubs as a “historic day”.
