ALBANY — Legislation designed to boost the state’s craft beverage industry — and whose beginnings came by way of a Geneva brewer — has been signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, R-131 of Canandaigua, the bill’s co-sponsor in the Assembly, applauded Cuomo’s signing of a new tax exemption for licensed breweries, farm breweries, cider producers, farm cideries, distilleries and farm distilleries.
WASHINGTON — Compared to states, the District ranks No. 2 for the percentage of adults who consume alcohol and No. 1 for the percentage of heavy drinkers, according to Detox.net, an online resource for alcohol abuse treatment programs.
CHARLESTON (JG-TC) -- The city is open for businesses to craft and serve alcohol after a City Council vote Tuesday.
Council members OK'd two measures that establish a new liquor license for brew pubs and craft brewers for which businesses can apply. Brew pub license holders will be able to “manufacture malt liquors or fermented malt beverages upon (their) licensed premises,” according to meeting documents. The license requires 15 percent of sales come from food.
MARIETTA — The Kennesaw City Council will vote whether or not to allow Dry County Brewing to become the first brewery in the state to also produce liquor.
Dry County currently produces a line of craft beers, but they have plans to expand their product line to include spirits.
WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) - The State of Illinois and Winnebago County are teaming up to launch the Winnebago County Liquor Inspection Pilot Program.
The Alcohol Code Revision Commission voted 8-7 in favor of cold beer sales on Friday, but that wasn’t good enough.

A change in Arkansas state law now allows grocery stores and some convenience stores to sell wine from large producers and wine from all over the country. Previously, the stores, including Walmart, were only allowed to sell wine from small batch farms.
