Capital Plan draft increases beer, liquor tax to fix infrastructure

LINCOLN, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — Going out for a drink could cost you more if Governor JB Pritzker’s plan to hike taxes happens, raising the per-gallon tax on beer and cider to 27.7 cents, wine to $2.05 and distilled liquor to $12.60, which would be the third highest tax in the nation.

Nevada State Assembly Passes 24-7 Sobriety Program Act

On Monday, the Nevada State Assembly Passed the 24-7 Sobriety and Drug Monitoring Program Act. The bill is modeled after a Safe-And-Sober program used in Washoe County. The bill is for people with less serious DUI's, not those who face manslaughter or other felonies.

186 alcohol sellers charged in underage drinking crackdown

Should common consumption be allowed for alcohol in Denver?

DENVER -- The city of Denver is considering a proposal to allow common consumption of alcohol in certain places. The idea is to allow a group of businesses, bars or restaurants to come together to seek a license to create an area where people can drink beverages from different establishments together.

Legislation decriminalizing underage drinking advances to state Senate floor

A bill released from a state Senate committee Wednesday would make underage drinking a civil offense. State Sen. Laura Sturgeon (D-Brandywine West) is sponsoring a measure decriminalizing underage alcohol consumption.
