New Jersey Supreme Court rules 20,667 breathalyzer tests inadmissible

More than 20,000 drunken-driving convictions in New Jersey could be in jeopardy after the state's highest court ruled Tuesday that breathalyzer tests used to win those judgments were inadmissible.

Door-to-door marijuana delivery? Marijuana cafes?  Maybe.  New Jersey is inching toward becoming the 11th state to legalize marijuana for recreational use, though a vote on legalizing marijuana this year is nearly impossible.

26 pages of liquor rule changes OK’d

WAILUKU — The Maui County Liquor Control Commission approved another round of rule changes Wednesday — this time received favorably — that assist nonprofits holding special events and restaurant owners with liquor licenses.

Why state regulators came down so hard in the Wegmans-liquor store case

The legal term in New York state alcohol beverage control law is "availing a license." The plain translation, more or less, is when someone who is not listed on a liquor license owns, manages or otherwise controls the licensed business. It's illegal under state law.

Pineville alcohol regulations, taxes on local ballot

Multiple propositions concerning Pineville's regulations on selling alcohol will be on the local ballot Saturday, along with five tax propositions. Currently, only restaurants are able to sell alcohol in Pineville, but that could change, depending on Saturday's election.

WSU research center to help Native people fight alcohol abuse

SPOKANE, Wash. – With support from a five-year, $7.1 million NIH grant, a new WSU-led national research center is working toward identifying and promoting effective treatments to reduce alcohol abuse among Native people.

Washington County Restaurant and Beverage Association lobbies for earlier Sunday alcohol sales

Other jurisdictions have relaxed their regulations for Sunday alcohol sales. Jim Doll of the Washington County Restaurant and Beverage Association thinks it’s time Washington County did, too.
