    Restaurants, Bars Still Serving Alcohol to Intoxicated Patrons

    Nearly every state has laws that ban restaurants and bars from serving alcohol to visibly intoxicated customers. But, at least in one region, few establishments seem to be complying, according to a new study in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs.

    Beer franchise law signed in Wyoming, allowing small brewers to terminate contracts with wholesalers without cause

    The Brewers Association (BA) -- the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American craft brewers -- recently announced that Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has signed Senate File 0079 (SF 0079) -- a long-negotiated compromise between craft brewers and beer distributors, into law. The legislation will go into effect July 1, 2024.

    Alcohol Sales In Norway Declined 2.4% In 2023

    Sales of alcoholic beverages declined by 2.4% in volume in Norway to 392 million litres in 2023 compared to the preceding year. 

    The decline was seen for spirits, wine and beer segments, according to the latest data from Statistics Norway.

    Minnesota could become the first state in nine years to open cannabis dispensaries that are run by cities and counties. 

    That's because of one line in the state's new cannabis laws that allow for cities and counties to "establish, own and operate a municipal cannabis store."

    Mecklenburg County liquor stores taking orders with 'ABC To Go' app

    The "ABC To Go" app allows customers to order spirits online and then pick up their orders in person.

    The Mecklenburg County ABC Board's new app that allows customers to order spirits ahead of in-store pickups is now available in all 30 of its liquor stores -- something the county's liquor supplier hopes will help create a smoother buying experience.
