    Law enforcement will tackle marijuana DUI enforcement similarly to alcohol DUIs

    ST PAUL, Minn. -- Several other states that have legalized marijuana, including Colorado and Washington, saw sharp increases in drivers being stopped for driving while high.

    With legalization about a week away in Minnesota, officials are preparing for something similar.

    A growing number of US states are working to loosen child labor laws so your next bartender could be an underage teenager

    Bars in various states across the country may be staffed by high schoolers as more lawmakers and businesses push to lower the legal age to serve alcohol and bartend.

    There are at least nine states -- including Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, New Mexico, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Idaho -- that have enacted or introduced laws that would allow minors ages 14 to 17 to serve alcohol, according to a report from Economic Policy Institute.

    Oregon Enacts Comprehensive Consumer Privacy Statute

    On July 18, 2023, Oregon's Governor signed Senate Bill 619 which enacts Oregon's comprehensive consumer data privacy statute. Oregon joins California, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Montana, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia in enacting a comprehensive consumer privacy law.

    OLCC issues recall for cannabis batch containing arsenic

    PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission has issued a recall for a batch of cannabis flower that tested positive for arsenic in January.

    The strain Blueberry Muffin, produced by Bend Cannabis Company, was first harvested in December 2022 and last sold on June 23, 2023.

    Tax cut on beer to support craft brewers

    (The Center Square) -- Connecticut's craft beer makers are getting a break on their excise tax bill as part of a broader measure aimed at fostering the brewing industry.

    The state's excise tax on beer dropped by 16.7% beginning on July 1, which lowered the tax on a 31-gallon barrel of beer to $6, from $7.20 previously, and the excise tax on wine from $0.24 to $0.20 per gallon.
