    New Oregon DUII law takes effect this weekend for commercial driving privileges

    Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is advising drivers with commercial drivers' licenses that they could lose their commercial driving privileges in Oregon for driving under the influence of intoxicants -- even if not driving a commercial vehicle at the time.

    Mexico’s tequila exports hit a record high

    Mexican tequila exports reached record-breaking levels this year, according to data from the Ministry of Economy and the Agricultural Markets Consulting Group (GCMA).

    Sales have been steadily growing over the last decade, from US $849 million in 2012 to over $3.6 billion between January and October this year, a 34.1% increase over the same period in 2021.

    The 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, voted on by men, banned alcohol in 1919, starting prohibition. Women won the right to vote when Congress ratified the 19th Amendment in 1920. Thirteen years later, prohibition ended with the 21st Amendment.

    Alcohol duty hikes will be put on ice for another six months until August in a boost for the hospitality trade.
