    Yukon Warning Labels On Alcohol Being Met With Intrigue By Canadian Cancer Society

    The BC branch of the Canadian Cancer Society is taking a wait and see approach after the Yukon introduced warning labels on alcohol bottles last month.
    The new cigarette-style labels say alcohol can cause cancer while the other suggests women should have no more than two drinks per day while men only need three.

    Wyoming lawmakers send tobacco, alcohol taxes to session; property, sales tax punted

    CHEYENNE – Monday was a bad day overall for new taxes in Wyoming, as lawmakers killed several bills and punted others to January.

    The Wyoming Legislature’s Joint Revenue Interim Committee met in Cheyenne to discuss a number of proposals to address budget deficits in advance of the 2018 budget session, which convenes Feb. 12.

    Craft beverage exemption bill signed by Gov. Cuomo

    ALBANY — Legislation designed to boost the state’s craft beverage industry — and whose beginnings came by way of a Geneva brewer — has been signed into law by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

    Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb, R-131 of Canandaigua, the bill’s co-sponsor in the Assembly, applauded Cuomo’s signing of a new tax exemption for licensed breweries, farm breweries, cider producers, farm cideries, distilleries and farm distilleries.

    Conference asks: Are we teaching our children to drink?

    What’s the right thing to do as a parent when it comes to alcohol? That is one of the issues being examined at a major conference in the North East exploring the impact of alcohol in childhood.

    More children in the region and nationally are choosing not to drink alcohol and although that is good news, Balance estimates that in the North East, around 16,500 11 to 15-year-olds drink on a regular basis and 9,300 have been drunk in the previous month.
