    Selling liquor by the glass to be allowed starting next month

    Restaurants will be allowed to serve liquor by the glass starting next month in a significant shift in alcohol sales regulations.

    The Ministry of Economy and Finance pre-announced legislation regarding revisions to the enforcement decree of liquor licenses on Wednesday. The revision focuses on expanding the scope of exceptions to the cancellation of liquor licenses.

    Low social status increases risk of health problems from alcohol problems

    Men and women with lower income or education levels are more likely to develop medical conditions related to alcohol abuse compared to similar individuals with a higher socioeconomic status. Alexis Edwards of Virginia Commonwealth University, US, and colleagues report these findings in a new study published March 19th in the open access journal PLOS Medicine.

    Beer franchise law signed in Wyoming, allowing small brewers to terminate contracts with wholesalers without cause

    The Brewers Association (BA) -- the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American craft brewers -- recently announced that Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has signed Senate File 0079 (SF 0079) -- a long-negotiated compromise between craft brewers and beer distributors, into law. The legislation will go into effect July 1, 2024.

    Alcohol Sales In Norway Declined 2.4% In 2023

    Sales of alcoholic beverages declined by 2.4% in volume in Norway to 392 million litres in 2023 compared to the preceding year. 

    The decline was seen for spirits, wine and beer segments, according to the latest data from Statistics Norway.
