    West Virginia's cannabis industry could get an upgrade with new legislation

    FAIRMONT -- Cannabis is getting the old college try again in the West Virginia State Legislature. Del. Evan Hansen, D-79, introduced HB-4873 into the House of Delegates, which seeks to establish a framework under which adults over the age of 21 can legally consume cannabis products in the state of West Virginia. Del. Joey Garcia, D-76, of Fairmont, is a cosponsor on the bill.

    Scottish Labour calls for levy on alcohol retailers

    SCOTTISH LABOUR has renewed calls for a sales levy on booze to fund treatment services, nearly six years after minimum unit pricing was introduced.

    The SNP Scottish government brought in minimum unit pricing for alcohol in 2018 in what has been viewed as a relatively successful attempt to curb consumption, but the measure does not generate extra cash for the public purse.

    Hawai'i Advocates Push for Stricter Alcohol Laws to Safeguard Roads

    In a steadfast attempt to curb alcohol-related traffic fatalities in Hawai'i, the Hawai'i Alcohol Policy Alliance (HIAPA) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) have rallied once again to propose a legislation that could lower the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level from 0.08% to 0.05% for drivers. This marks the fourth year in a row that these organizations have pushed for this significant change.

    FLINT, Mich. (WNEM) – Patrons can now enjoy a bloody Mary or mimosa on Sunday mornings in Flint restaurants.

    Flint City Council repealed a resolution that banned the sales of alcohol on Sunday mornings that had been in effect for more than a decade.

    Gov. Stitt approves emergency alcohol rule for restaurant staff tastings

    Gov. Kevin Stitt has signed an emergency rule into effect allowing specific licensed businesses to hold educational staff alcohol tastings on site.

    The rule passed by Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission in a special meeting last week, was written as the result of concerns from the Oklahoma Restaurant Association and others in the hospitality industry, following a citation at local fine dining restaurant Mahogany.

    Alko sales down 4% in 2023

    Finland's state alcohol monopoly Alko sold fewer alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages last year, with sales figures reflecting a 3.4 million litres decrease compared to 2022.

    Alko sold a total of 76.9 million litres of beverages in 2023, or 4.1 percent less than the 80.3 million litres sold in 2022. Sales also decreased in 2022, year-on-year.
