    West Virginia House passes 'Baylea's Law' increasing DUI penalties

    The West Virginia House of Delegates on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved House Bill 4712, known as 'Baylea's Law,' named for Baylea Bowser, a 24-year-old Boone County resident who was killed by an intoxicated driver in 2025.

    Cider Producers Focus on Alcohol Policy Challenges

    When Oregon Heritage Farms, one of the largest cider apple orchards in the country, shut down in 2024, it did so for financial reasons rather than weather or crop disease. Small cideries that rely on traditional bittersweet and bittersharp apples are operating within tight margins, according to Emily Ritchie, executive director of Northwest Cider.
