    China Ends Service That Lets You Pay People to Get Drunk For You

    Just two weeks after launching a service that lets users find people to drink alcohol for them, a Chinese company decided to cease operations over regulation concerns.

    Founded in 2011, eDaijia, based in Beijing, introduced eDaihe, which means “to drink on behalf of,” on Dec. 28, 2017. The service allows users to find surrogate drinkers based on location and drinking capacity as well as their personal introduction.

    Alcohol-Linked ER Visits Are Rapidly Rising, Though Drinking Per Capita Is Down

    Most Americans drink safely and in moderation. But a steady annual increase in trips made to emergency rooms as a result of drinking alcohol added up to 61 percent more visits in 2014 compared with 2006, according to a study published this month in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.

    According to a recent study, there is a steady rise in the number of individuals visiting the emergency rooms due to complications and problems associated with alcohol consumption over the last few years.     US alcohol consumption declines for second year

    Total alcohol consumption in the US has fallen for the second consecutive year despite positive growth from spirits, according to data released by the IWSR.

    Alcohol consumption levels were down 0.2% in 2017 compared to the previous year, dropping to 17.6 million gallons, or 7.4m nine-litre cases.

    Campari eases liquor ordering with NFC-enabled fridge magnets

    Campari America, the U.S. distributor of Skyy vodka and Wild Turkey bourbon, is distributing special refrigerator magnets that consumers can tap with a smartphone to order spirits for home delivery. The "Campari on Tap" magnets are equipped with a special near-field communication chip (NFC) that opens a product page on Drizly, the online shop for alcohol. From there, a smartphone user can order Campari brands for delivery.

    Summary:  Alcohol consumption has been identified as a modifiable risk factor for cancers such as gastric cancer. A new report sheds light on how specific proteins interact with alcohol, and how that interplay impacts survival and response to platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with gastric cancer who may or may not still be drinking.
