    Chhattisgarh's new liquor law to allow alcohol on highways

    The Chhattisgarh government is going to amend the excise policy to enable the sale of liquor on star hotels across the highways.'
    The sale was prohibited following apex court order that restricted alcohol within 500 meters of the highways. A few luxury hotels in the state were affected by the order.

    Parents Need to Step Up to Reduce Teen Drinking

    A new Australian study reveals that more can and should be done to curb the drinking habits of teens. And, parents should lead the way as the parental influence is more powerful than many realize.
    Although teens worldwide are drinking and smoking less, when they do drink, they usually drink more than adults.
    University of Adelaide researchers surveyed more than 2800 Australian students aged 12-17 on their drinking behavior.

    Alcohol minimum pricing appeal begins at Supreme Court

    The UK's highest court has begun hearing the latest appeal against minimum pricing for alcohol.
    The Scotch Whisky Association's case against the measure is being assessed by the Supreme Court in London.
    The policy was approved by MSPs at Holyrood in 2012, but has been tied up in a succession of court challenges amid claims it breaches European law.

    What is a unit?
    An alcohol unit is defined as 10ml or 8g of pure alcohol. As alcoholic drinks come in various strengths and sizes, units are the only accurate way to measure how relatively strong a drink is and how it affects buyers.
    According to the Drinkaware website, "it takes an average adult around an hour to process one unit of alcohol so that there's none left in their bloodstream, although it varies from person to person."

    Sales, Import, and Manufacture of Alcoholic Beverages in China

    Foreign beer and wine consumption is increasing significantly in China. In 2016, Chinese consumed 567.5 million liters of imported wine, with bottled wine leading the total imports, followed by bulk wines and sparkling wines, according to statistics from the China Association for Imports and Exports of Wine and Spirits. During the same period, beer imports grew by 18.7 percent in volume to 598.5 million liters.
