    GIBA, Beverages Association want alcohol ads ban reviewed

    The Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) has urged the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to review the ban on the advertisement of alcoholic beverages between 6am and 8pm.

    The FDA had earlier stated that it would strictly enforce the regulations that prevent manufacturers of alcoholic products from advertising their products on radio and television during the day.

    At Tuesday's meeting, Bethel City Council will consider putting two alcohol propositions on the ballot for October’s municipal election. One would ask voters whether Bethel should revisit its earlier decision under the local option alcohol law and prohibit all alcohol sales, except from a city-run liquor store.

    Senate Committee to Take up Cold Beer, Sunday Sales Bills

    INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The chairman of an Indiana Senate committee that handles alcohol matters has scheduled a hearing for a bill to allow retail Sunday booze sales.

    Republican Sen. Ron Alting, of Lafayette, says the measure will be heard Wednesday. He has also scheduled a hearing for Jan. 17 on a bill that would allow convenience and big-box stores to sell cold beer.
