Researchers study inebriation at sporting events

In many western countries, public concern about violence and other problems at sporting events have increased. Alcohol is often involved. Research shows that approximately 40 percent of the spectators drink alcohol while attending U.S. baseball and football games, especially when alcohol is served within the arenas themselves.

'Drunkorexia' on the rise

The holidays are here and that means lots of parties and family gatherings, many that include alcohol. While safe social drinking isn't a problem heavy drinking is on the rise in the United States. 

Binge drinking, once associated with hard partying college students, is now making its way into mainstream America increasing at alarming rates among middle and upper class adults.

What is the best policy for reducing the impact of alcohol on the road accident rate?

Researchers from the University of Seville have analysed alcohol consumption in traffic accident fatalities in the European Union.

A study by the research group Applied Economics & Management, which is based at the University of Seville, has analysed, from a sample of the 28 countries of the European Union, the existing relationship between alcohol and road safety.

Parents could be storing up problems for their children by introducing them to alcohol too young and ordering takeaways too often, researchers warn.

Two universities found that one in six parents gives their children alcohol by the age of 14, when their body and brain are not yet fully developed.  Many parents may believe they are acting responsibly - but that's not backed up by research, experts said.

Regular takeaways were a risk to the heart, a separate study said.

Large study links alcohol misuse to subsequent injury risk in young people

The immediate effects of drinking too much alcohol are obvious, unpleasant and can even be life threatening, but a new study has shown that young people who drink excessively, to the degree that they are admitted into hospital because of it, are also at a much higher risk of sustaining injuries in the following 6 months.
