New MIP law reduces legal consequences

One LSA freshman, who requested to remain anonymous, said he has paid almost $200, and will pay about another $400 in courts costs and up to $1,000 in probation fees. He also has to complete five days of community service, and though the student foresees a judge accepting his plea and giving him six to 12 months of reporting probation, combined with regular drug and breathalyzer tests, the repercussions aren't over.

State: Businesses let RIT students buy alcohol with student IDs

NEW YORK - Rochester Institute of Technology students allegedly used their college-issued identification cards, cards that don't include dates of birth, to purchase alcohol at two adjoining Scottsville Road businesses.

The New York State Liquor Authority on Thursday stopped the businesses — Father Son Wine & Spirits and Joey's Mini Mart — from selling alcohol, effective immediately.

After a student’s death following a fraternity party, and the subsequent suspension of Greek life, Florida State’s president has stopped serving alcohol at functions he hosts and is asking faculty and staff not to serve alcohol at on-campus holiday parties.
