State legislators push to let 19 year-olds drink

Early voting to begin in bid to reverse 1950s alcohol ban in part of central Arkansas

Having the ability to sell alcohol by the drink helps to attract national chain restaurants to a city, while missing that option turns them away, Jacksonville Mayor Gary Fletcher said.

In Washington, distracted driving gets a rebrand as DUI-E

Record-setting pre-Halloween period for SoberRide initiative

The SoberRide initiative of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) saw record usage over the pre-Halloween weekend, with 715 individuals receiving a ride home during the six-hour period that began 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

New York City Repeals Prohibition-Era Cabaret Law

The existing Cabaret Law, established nearly a century ago during Prohibition, requires any business venue where dancing occurs to obtain a Cabaret license from the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs before operating.

Bill would stiffen penalties if laws on alcohol flouted

The Alcoholic Beverage Control agency would be able to place tougher penalties on restaurants, bars and nightclubs that violate state alcohol laws under proposed legislation discussed Tuesday.
