Genoa Dollar General OK'd to sell beer, wine

A new Dollar General Store on the outskirts of Texarkana in a community known as Genoa can now sell beer and wine -- despite public opposition and an initial denial by Mary Robin Casteel, director of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Administration Division.

County DUI conviction rate only 46 percent, says MADD

Kershaw County’s misdemeanor DUI conviction rate may not be the lowest in either the 5th or 13th judicial circuits, but the South Carolina chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) says the county is contributing to what it calls to a low conviction rate across the state.

Solemn Oath Brewery seeks to get rid of 3-beer limit, increase number of events

Solemn Oath Brewery Thursday will ask Naperville Liquor commissioners to get rid of a cap on the number of drinks the brewery can serve to patrons, increase the number of events the business can hold and allow the taproom to serve beers not manufactured onsite.

Valdosta considers laws for microbreweries

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta City Council hosted a work session Tuesday night to discuss a change in the alcohol permission laws. The council is expecting the city’s first microbrewery to be opening in early November. This type of brewery can make and distribute alcohol.
