    Bill would require bar owners to report life-threatening events

    CHARLESTON — Members of the West Virginia Senate are discussing a bill that would require bar owners to report violent crimes or other life-threatening events that happen on their property to law enforcement, EMS and the state Alcohol Beverage Control Administration.

    The Senate Judiciary Committee discussed the proposed legislation, Senate Bill 110, on Tuesday.

    Virginia tourism: $2.2 billion growth during McAuliffe administration

    Governor Terry McAuliffe announced that there have been $1.4 billion in private investments towards Virginia’s tourism industry since he took office in 2014. The Commonwealth’s tourism industry also saw $2.2 billion in total growth during the McAuliffe administration, representing a compound annual growth rate of 3.3 percent.

    Wyoming Highway Patrol data shows decline in alcohol-related crashes

    Alcohol-related crashes appear to have dropped on Wyoming highways in 2017 compared to years prior, but by how much is not yet clear.

    Preliminary data from the Wyoming Highway Patrol indicates that the number of alcohol-related crashes in the state dropped by 24 percent, from 712 in 2016 to 542 last year.

    LANSING, Mich. (AP) — The number of wineries in Michigan continues to rise.

    The Michigan Grape & Wine Industry Council says it has added eight producers to the list of wineries it promotes, bringing the statewide total to 138. That’s up from 49 in 2007.

    Vermont House votes to legalize marijuana

    The Vermont House passed a bill Thursday night to legalize recreational possession of marijuana just hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded a Department of Justice policy on legal marijuana.

    Lawmakers voted 81-63 in favor of the bill, which would allow adults over the age of 21 to grow and possess small amounts of legal marijuana beginning in July.
