    Spirits market turns to lighter alcohol

    The spirits market is showing a notable rise in sales in the low-ABV category this holiday season, as South Koreans increasingly celebrate with lighter drinks and smaller gatherings.

    Since last year, Korea has seen a surge in demand for liquor with low alcohol by volume.

    Researchers from the University of Seville have analysed alcohol consumption in traffic accident fatalities in the European Union.

    A study by the research group Applied Economics & Management, which is based at the University of Seville, has analysed, from a sample of the 28 countries of the European Union, the existing relationship between alcohol and road safety.

    Underage drinking reaches ‘record low’ in UK

    Alcohol consumption among eight to 15-year-olds in the UK has dropped to “record lows”, falling by 67% since 2003 according to a new study.

    The figures, published on NHS Digital, were sourced from 12,051 pupils in 177 schools, who completed questionnaires in the autumn term of 2016.

    Hong Kong, Argentina sign MOU to promote wine trade

    Hong Kong and Argentina have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to co-operate and promote wine trade between the two countries.

    The MOU is not only related to wine related trade and investment promotion, but also focuses to the co-operation between the two countries in education, training and in the prevention of counterfeiting of wines.

    Drinks Manufacturers Raise Concerns Over Labelling Proposals In Alcohol Bill

    Irish drinks manufacturers have criticised the Minister for Health, Simon Harris, for failing to address concerns about the advertising and labelling proposals in the Public Health (Alcohol) Bill.

    The Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland (ABFI) says that Harris has not 'meaningfully engaged' with the manufacturers who will be impacted by the new legislation.

    A campaign dubbed "Utado" has been launched to promote responsible alcohol drinking as festivities begin.  Gordon Mutugi, chair of Alcohol Beverages Association of Kenya, said they want to play a promote responsible consumption of alcohol during social occasions and celebrations.
